This accolade is one of the most revered honors in the design industry. Additionally, another concept model from the same series, the Space-Hub, has also emerged victorious, securing a Red Dot award in the Design Concept competition.
Revolutionizing EV Design with the Honda 0 Series
Under Honda’s redefined Global Brand Slogan, The Power of Dreams, and its forward-thinking approach to electrification, the Honda 0 Series represents a significant transformation for the company. Debuting globally at CES 2024 in the U.S., this series introduces an all-new electric vehicle lineup that epitomizes Honda’s pioneering Thin, Light, and Wise design philosophy aimed at creating new value for EVs.
The Saloon: A Flagship of Innovation
The Saloon stands as the pinnacle of the Honda 0 Series, showcasing a revolutionary design ethos. Its one-motion form features a smooth line that rises from the front to the rear, coupled with a low and wide stance that exudes both suppleness and dynamism. The side glass’s upright design enhances the expansive side panel, while the narrowing shape towards the side sills accentuates the vehicle’s tires.
Inside, the Saloon offers a simple yet sophisticated human-machine interface (HMI), ensuring an intuitive and seamless user experience. Despite its sporty, low-height exterior, the Saloon surprises with a spacious interior, providing more room than its exterior dimensions suggest. Toshinobu Minami, Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of the Design Center at Honda R&D Co., Ltd., expressed his delight at receiving the Red Dot Award: “We are pleased to be awarded the world-renowned Red Dot Award in the Design Concept competition, in addition to the awards we received in the Product Design competition, announced in April. We designed the Saloon, named the ‘Best of the Best,’ as a model that represents the major transformation of Honda, with the theme of achieving a ‘resonance with the environment, society, and customers’ and with an original design that differentiates the Saloon from other models from the first glance. We believe these awards are the result of receiving a high evaluation both for the design and the new value Honda offers.
